Verna was born on February 1, 1962. She grew up near New Day and then moved to Lusaka where she lived for 16-18 years. For school, she only finished grade 9. She started working at New Day doing daily peace work and then moved to be a substitute house mother. She became a full-time housemother at the beginning of 2022.

Verna was married for 4-5 years and had 4 children but only one of her children is still living. Verna has 2 grandchildren from her one daughter.

Verna grew up in the Anglican Church and accepted Jesus as her savior in the 1990s. She loves to read the Bible as well as laughing and playing with the children. She wants to help teach the New Day children how to live well and how to read the Bible so that they know God’s plan for their lives and how to live as God intends them to live.
