Happy was born in 2017. She was living with her older sister Orient with their mother and stepfather, but when she was 1 year old, their stepfather left the family and his whereabouts are unknown. Their mother also abandoned the girls and left them with an 18 year old uncle. In a bid to fend for his nieces, he found himself in conflict with the law for theft. He was arrested, and it was recommended by Social Welfare that the girls be boarded out to a child care facility while they were still searching for the mother. The two girls came to New Day on August 26, 2022. When their mother reappeared in their life, Social Welfare assessed their home and concluded that the girls' home condition wasn't adequate and ordered that the girls remain at New Day.
